Surrounded by mountains and located on the Mediterranean coast of southwestern Turkey, Antalya is an attractive holiday resort in the Mediterranean region, with palm-lined boulevards and a prize-winning marina on the Mediterranean Sea.
In the 2nd century B.C. Attalus II, the ruler of the Pergamon Kingdom founded the city and named it Attaleai after himself. Ever since then Antalya has been continuously inhabited by the Romans, Byzantines , Seljuks, Ottomans in history. Due to its rich history and housing different cultures and civilizations Antalya ofers its visitors various historical sites such as; Perge, Aspendos, Side, Termessos, Selge, Phaselis, Olympos, Chimeira, Kekova, Simena, Patara, Xantos, Letoon, Pinara, Tlos, Kas, Kalkan, Aperlai, Isinda, Myra and Sillyon.
The two waterfalls in Antalya province ‘Duden’ and ‘Kursunlu’ are among the ‘must see’s in the area together with Nilufer Lake, Olimpos National Park, Karain Cave, Saklikent and Kaleici with its narrow winding streets and old wooden houses.
