The Black Sea

Driving its name from the Black Sea, the region extends from the border of Georgia in the east to the eastern edge of the Adapazari Plain in the west. The Black Sea region is divided into the three sections, east, central and west. Mild humid climate makes the region heavily forested and rich in fauna and flora with over 7.000 species of plants.
Tea, hazelnuts and corn are the most important features of the agriculture in this region since the great majority of the people in the region earn their living from the land. This steep and rocky northern coastal region of Turkey occupies 18% of the total area. The population is concentrated along the coast line.
There are eighteen provinces in the Black Sea region: Trabzon, Zonguldak, Samsun, Rize, Artvin, Bayburt, Gumushane, Giresun, Amasya, Ordu, Sinop, Kastamonu, Bartin, Bolu, Duzce, Tokat, Corum, Karabuk.
